dueled Spanish Fork on thursday. We won. I won both my jv matches. First match I was beating the kid 16 to 2 when I pinned him. next match i teched the kid. Domination. Now if I could just do that on varsity level kids all the time.
Few more weeks of wrestling left. Gotta get it done this season.
had a good practice. drilled with chad. went good, he’s flexible and a scrambler so scoring is tough but i manage to score. just have to watch out for his arm throws. wrestled in a match with chad also, first period he scored a takedown, i escaped. second period, i escaped, no other action. third period, he escapes i take him down and turn him for two. i won 4 to 3. next match i wrestled in practice was against brady, first period i scored a takedown and three near fall and he escaped. second period, i escaped and scored another takedown. third period, he got a reversal and i got an escape. 9 to 3 was the score.
doing better, starting to get it back. i woulda scored one more takedown on brady but i hit my cheekbone on his knee and split open pretty good. blood time. but overall it was a good practice
Wrestled the Payson Lions. They were the 4A State Runner ups last year and the 2009 and 2010 4A State Champions. I wrestled JV. I pinned my kid in the third period. Score before that was 9 to 2. Been sick with the flu. Threw up before and after my match. Had a high fever, body aches and that whole deal ha. Record for this season advances to 12 wins, 10 losses.
1/13 and 1/14
Woke up and still had a high fever, still was throwing up. Didn’t wrestle at the Rocky Mountain Rumble. Missed the biggest tournament of the year. I would have improved the most here. But, yesterday I was out of gas by the end of the third period. I know I’m not in bad shape. I go harder than everyone in the room. Always the first done with sprints and first in all conditioning drills. Being sick took it out of me. Throwing up a lot probably didn’t help either. I think I could have won or placed at the JV Rocky Mountain Rumble had I felt good. I missed my chance. Next year, I will have to place in the Varsity Rocky Mountain Rumble.
I need to step it up. Next week we only have two practices before we duel Spanish Fork. No school or practice on Monday. I plan to run on Monday, I also plan to run on Tuesday. I’m going to do sprints on Monday, or maybe go 800m three rounds for time. Then on Tuesday, I will go for a long distance run. From here on out, I really need to buckle down and stay after to work on my techniques, to get in better shape and become an overall better wrestler. I know I’ve said it before and end up not doing it, but for me to qualify and place at the State Championships, I have to do it. I can’t waste anymore time.
wrestled jv tonight. had two matches because they had 3 138s I beat both of them. Scored two pins. The first match went into the third and coach told me he had been wrestling a while but i was dominating the whole match and he just quit in the third and i pinned him in a half. next match, pinned the kid a few seconds into the second with a half. had like 8 takedowns tonight. i’ll have to watch teh film and count them to be sure
Barnburner match with one of Delta’s studs. He beat one of our best wrestlers last year every time they wrestled. It was 6 to 6 going into the third, I held him down for like 45 seconds and he escaped. I was dominating on my feet, getting to my low single every time I shot it except for once, I just didn’t finish as good as I needed to, but I had his leg up in the air and when i tripped him we went out of bounds and he ended up taking me down right after we restarted in the center circle. I lost 6 to 9.
Juab, I lost my first match to Juab, treid to throw him and got bodylocked and pinned. Next match, I wrestled Blackfoot, from Idaho, was beating the kid 5 – 2, got too high on my leg ride and pinned, had a bye, then I scored a major decision over Pine View with a score of 15 to 5. Next day, I beat Pleasant grove 5 to 1, beat Manti 6 to 4. Next match, I got into an upperbody situation and he threw me and I landed on my knee. Its filled up with fluid and the trainer said I probably pulled something above my knee cap and that I should rest for the rest of today. Didn’t get to wrestle anymore, Coach told me to rest. So overall, i went 3 and 2, which isn’t horrible, because it should have been 4 and 1. i wasn’t far behind the juab kid, i jsut do dumb shit sometimes, but I’m going to go ice my knee and ket it rest, peace.
today was supposed to be a lighter practice, but i went with chad and he went hard the whole time but i scored a lot of takedowns. tons of low singles, didn’t work much from the tie up. except for a double leg and a high crotch.
wrestled a lot and was way under weight, so i got to eat and drink a lot of water tonight. probably get to eat some breakfast. i’m wrestling varsity tomorrow for sure. i went hard in practice this week. i know i’m ready. i know i can hang with the best. i know i can win. i’ll use my motion and circle around him until he reaches and if it’s there i’ll go high crotch or double leg, if it’s not i’m circle him until my low single is there, if i can snap him hard in the tie, i’ll look for my pick.
all i want to do is be successful. lately i’ve been getting furious in practice and just scoring off shear craziness and its helped when i need to score points and i end up escaping off bottom or reversing them or getting a take down when i’m in deep on the legs and they are defending good. i’m going to win. WAR NORTH SANPETE.
Did okay at this tournament. Its all the toughest teams in the state except for two or three (then they are a little below average, like my team). i had to wrestle on the independent team, which is like the best JV guys put on their own team. I lost my first match, got killed. Pinned really quick. The next match the 138 on my team hurt his knee so I had to wrestle for him and I wrestled the same kid, scored a takedown and some back points, but he ended up pinning me again, I need to work off getting off bottom. Wrestled a kid from Wasatch twice, close match both times but lost. Got killed by last years state runner up from Cedar. I ended up going 2 – 5. I beat Hurricane and South Sevier. Wasn’t a horrible tournament, but I should have been able to beat the Wasatch kid. Just couldn’t get to my offense very good like I should have. Need to work on some things next week, I’ll do better next week. Can’t get any worse, only where to go is up, just have to keep improving.
Can’t wait for tomorrow. I want to wrestle again. I want to kill Cruz. I don’t want to leave an ounce of doubt in anyone that I’m not the best wrestler at 138. He pinned me once, but payback’s a bitch.
Going to stay after tomorrow to work on a low single re shot. Watching more and more film I realize how often its there, just need to capitalize on it. I’ll probably go over a double leg re shot too.
As for today, I’ll post my workout in a bit. I think I might go do a 20 minute trail run. Its pretty steep and rocky, should be a fun one.
For anyone that wanted to see my match with Cruz at Red and White Night. I hate having it on the internet because I look like shit getting pinned, but as long as I am gaining knowledge and constructive criticism, I’ll leave it up. I’ll post more next sunday or saturday after the tournament in millard.
